YAE21 – The Pandemic Edition

I dag spilles semifinalerne ved All England 2021 i Birmingham, med start kl 11.00.

Dette års All England kalder jeg “The Pandemic Edition”.

Today, the semi-finals of the All England 2021 will be played in Birmingham, starting at 11.00.

10 matches must be played on one court.

Denmark has already secured participation in the men’s singles final, as Anders Antonsen meets Viktor Axelsen in one of the semifinals. That match is the last match that will be played today, and will probably not start until after 20:00 tonight.

In match 2, two young and unseeded Danes, Jeppe Bay and Lasse Mølhede, play the match of their lives against last year’s winners from Japan.

In match 6, Denmark’s best men’s doubles, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are in their first semi at All England. After a long period of lack of results, it seems that they have rediscovered the form.

All matches are shown LIVE on TV2 Sport and Play. Also the finals tomorrow from 12.45.

This year’s All England I call “The Pandemic Edition”. Hit by cancellations from major badminton countries and expulsion of the Indonesian team on day one, late at night.

The latter has created great anger and sadness in Indonesia, which is crazy about badminton. Many players at All England have received violent messages on their social media.

The sport of badminton has (had) it hard during the pandemic. Many are dissatisfied with what they see as a weak and hesitant Badminton World Federation, where a Dane is the one most responsible.
