The mixed double between Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na from Korea, seeded 7, and Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia, seeded 2, finished a short while ago. The players needed three games to find a winner.
The Indonesians started like a rocket and got a lead of 6-1 in first game. However, the Koreans quickly caught up with them and the rest of the first game was very close. Ko and Kim got set point at 20-19 but three points to Ahmad and Natsir gave them the game by 22-20.
Second game was nearly just as close. After a Korean lead most of the way, the Indonesians brought themselves in front by just one point. But Ko and Kim were strong enough to win the game 21-18 and force their opponents into a deciding third game.
Here there was just one way for the winning pair. Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir were shocked by the Korean start and only got their first point after being down 0-7. The Koreans never had problems keeping their lead and Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na won the Denmark Open title fairly easy in last game by 21-9.
Walkover
Women’s double was next match in line in Odense, Denmark, but it was just announced that Zhao Yunlei had to pull out due to an injury.
That makes Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan take the title without playing, and world champions Zhao Yunlei and Tian Qing must settle as runner-ups.
